Gave Medmen 3 visits. Each time disappointed. Plan to spend your entire day waiting in line and don't expect what you want is in stock there. First time was 1 month after recreational was legalized and found the waiting line was 200 people going outside into the parking garage.Second time was 15 people in line but they had no flower in stock.Third time was during pandemic where Medmen insists you place your order online prior to arrival and they text you later with only a 45-minute window for pick up. When I arrived, there were over 100 people in line and was impossible to make a pick up with an their tight 45 minute time window. I also saw several Medmen employees outside standing around on break outside of lunch with so many waiting customers.Probably a number of reasons why a simple pick up & pay for an order already placed could take an entire day of your time. But it doesn't make sense that their pick up window is 45 minutes when customers are spending several hours in line and will never make it in time. Very inefficient business. It seems easier to buy illegally.
I bought 2 of the same exact products within a few weeks of each other for the same price but the 2nd purchase was 15% less potent! If I'm paying the same price for the same exact product I would expect the same amount of THC potency. I'm confused why it would be significantly different qualities.
It's as good as it can be with such high demand and low supply. The people there were very nice!! I've been twice. It's a streamlined operation which is good. The lawIn IL doesn't allow for people to interact with the product before buying it. In CO you can smell the flower or see the edibles before you buy. IL dispensaries can't control that at this point, which is too bad.
Long wait, but expected that. Only 1/4/20 so the line was long. 2h45m to get through for me. Despite the long wait and some more limited choices due to supply/demand, I was very happy with service. Enough security that even with the crowd it felt orderly. Ordering in line was a nice touch, and I found the suggestions from the employee helpful for my purchase. Will visit again.
Usually well stocked, decent greetings and customer service. No glitz or glamour at this spot but it's usually timely to get through.
This place is more proof of why stores such as Walmart, etc. would be better off selling marijuana, and why government managed dispensaries are a joke. For starters they guard this place like it was Fort Knox and they interrogate you just to get in there. You really better be ready to lose your dignity to shop at this overpriced, unfriendly, place if you want to do business with them. You can forget about the help being friendly and greeting with you with smiles, it's more like just the opposite there. They act as if they're doing you some kind of favor by just letting enter the place. In my case even though I'm dying from cancer and even showed them my prescription, they just didn't care and treated me poorly. The end result was I left this place upset and was more than happy to tell them what I think about them. Unfortunately this place is just as mismanaged if not worse than the state of Illinois.
I would like to say I walked into this dispensary not certain about how it would go, but I'm here to say I'm pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The store was clean and I only had to wait like 30 minutes to be serviced. The location is a little wonky but they have a parking garage right next door. Parking garage price: less than an hr is FREE, 2-3 hrs is $3.00 and I think 4-5 hrs is something like $5 or $6. They were great and I DO recommend this place and I WILL go back again. Don't forget 10% off your first purchase as long as you register your email on their website. Also keep in mind: they do not have a large flower selection. Only two types. But they have a large assortment of cartridges and edibles. All carts are either disposable or half gram.
Went on their website the day before and made sure that they were open. Was excited to check out the place. Drove in, found and paid for parking only to be turned away because of their new restrictions. They didn't care about my time or my parking fees, just got a shrug and smug smile from one of the people working there. Find another place, they don't deserve your business.
I switched over to this dispensary when my regular place closed down unexpectedly - aka they saved my ass! The associates were extremely kind, knowledgeable and patient despite it always being busy there. I have stopped by twice in the past week as a medical patient and was immediately helped. I even emailed beforehand to ask for a menu and received a reply very quickly with all the info I needed.I love that this place takes debit cards (saves me a trip to the ATM), and that you can do online pickups as a medical patient. That being said, if you leave a bad review here because you're mad you had to wait in line for recreational... Rude! That's your own fault for not getting there early. I waited in line for hours here the first day rec was legal (before I got my MMJ card), and the staff was STILL just as friendly and patient as they were today. Don't leave bad reviews because you can't plan your day correctly. And if you don't want to wait at all - get a medical card! :)
Recreational client experience: I arrived a few minutes before 10am opening. Rec sales are limited from 10-2 to give priority to medical patients, as it should be. It was a 2 hour process. They have you line up in the parking garage. After 90 minutes my part of the line had moved indoors where they scan your ID and give out paper menus. From here you weave in another line where your order is taken and you are given a ticket with your order number. Finally, you move into the room where you retrieve your order and pay. THEY ONLY HAD 4 OPERATING REGISTERS. No wonder the lines are so long. Very poor selection of flower, only 2, both 2/3 CBD. Both from labs, not farms. Very disappointing for those of us who do not want popcorn lung and don't vape. The staff is okay, not too knowledgeable about products sold. 27% Tax on my $79 purchase
There was no real selection of products. No flower only edibles and liquid. Needs to be more like MedMen in Los Angeles. That's a great location. It was like an apple store for cannabis. This was a lonnnnng long line with nothing at the end of the rainbow.
Update 05/05/20There are no options for medical cannabis. Nothing. Zip. This is absolutely ridiculous for "medmen" to have no MED!
Things have gotten better here since my last review. I walked right in and out today. Things were spaced appropriately and I noticed the team having fun at work. A previous review was followed up with by the store manager who obviously took my feedback to heart even though I didn't think so at the time. Thank you. I've fully taken down my negative review. Which referenced long wait times and poor social distancing behaviors that I did not experience today.
I have places an order online and waited till I got a notice that it is ready . Then went over there with an even amount of cash waited in line and was told that its sold out ?! How can my order be sold out id it was prepared for me ... so I order tofu pad tai and go to pick it up and they tell me they haven't cooked it yet and I can have beef or shrimp? That is not right , super pissed . It just doesn't make sense Not thank you
Note: I am a medical patient, so keep in mind your experience may vary. Medmen Evanston gets a lot of hate here on yelp for problems with their recreational sales, and I agree some of that is warranted. But, people need to understand that our state legalized recreational cannabis out of nowhere; there isn't enough supply and only 50 or so dispensaries in the whole state. (Not to mention, there's an oligopoly of 7 or 8 firms that control all 21 growing facilities in Illinois that keep prices high. Also, the prices are further inflated by Illinois stringent seed to sale tracking requirements.) So I agree there are problems, but they are mostly out of Medmen's control. So, then why did I give Medmen 5 stars? In short, it's because they do the things they can control correctly: their staff is friendly and knowledgeable; the store is always clean, and they always ensure that there is supply for their medical patients. My only real complaint is actually that Medmen is still open for recreational sales. With Coronavirus affecting nearly every other business, it seems counterintuitive to have the large crowds that recreational marijuana brings. Many of Medmen's medical patients are old, and many are immunocompromised. Not to mention, the employees are all over each other during recreational hours as they try to cope with the demand. I don't see how proper social distancing can be practiced during recreational hours, and I'm worried for the staff as well as many of their patients. So, Medmen certainly isn't perfect, but they do their best, treat their customers and patients well, and have the best products.
Funny how everything is stocked other than flowers. I was able to pick up a disposable 250mg vape for like $55 fucking dollars that got me high maybe twice. Some fool next to me spent like $200 on random crap since he called ahead and was told they had flower. This place is a joke. The staff being bad I can understand, it's a weed shop.
I never even ended up getting anything from here. It said they were open on thanksgiving on their website and on Google so I placed an order online for pick up. I was just told I can't work for two weeks due to a COVID exposure despite the fact that I tested negative so I'm a little stressed over that and wanted to pick up some prerolls. I don't have a car so it's a bit of a commute for me. The purple line wasn't running at the time I needed to make my transfer so I ended up taking a $15 uber just to get there and see that they're closed on thanksgiving. That's understandable but would it kill you to put it on your website? Or make it so that orders can't be placed on thanksgiving? I was busting my ass to get there in time to pick up because I don't want to waste anyone's time, only for me to get there and realize this business doesn't really care enough about it's customers to make sure it's not wasting THEIR time. Like I said, I can't wait for two weeks so dropping $30+CTA fare on nothing isn't really what I'm trying to do right now. Not to mention that taking the CTA through Evanston/Rogers Park as a woman is dangerous enough. I learned everything I need to know about this business tonight, won't be returning.
There should be a change in management at this location. My friend and I wanted to pick up some medicinal marijuana. We were told by security we needed to order from leafly and have a pickup window. We ordered at 12:01, then waited for an hour, and finally on leafly it said our order was ready. We went to the first entrance line where you wait in a corridor, then security will then send you to another entrance and wait in another line, we showed the manger to that second entrance that our order was ready for pickup. He said did you receive a text when your pickup window is we said no we never got a text. Can we just go in we've been waiting for an hour now. He said to come back in 20 minutes to see if he can get us in.We come back to the second line and he said I checked and your pickup window is 4:15 pm. We never received a text can you just serve us that's a 4 hour wait to be out there. I get it the long wait it due to pandemic but a gentleman came up while arguing with the manager and said he just ordered, Management (guy in the white beard and blond hair, short and stocky) asked him what time is your pickup window and the man replied I didn't get a text. Management let him in anyway in front of us! Unbelieveable. We asked the management why the guy got special treatment and the manager said because he has "stellar" management skills. That was so unethical of manager to let some guy just walk up, not wait in line, mind you he was a white gentleman we we are both asian females. I sense some discrimination here.Management would not let us in to get our order and he said we weren't allowed in the store. We ordered in the Oak Park Madmen location but Evanston management is mismanaged, unprofessional, combative, and just plain out right rude. I would just pickup at Oak Park, IL location which they were a lot nice, more efficient, and friendlier.
Their website is crap. It doesn't inform you when products are out of stock, and ends up wasting lots of time. And, that's too bad, because you must order ahead for pick up, thanks to COVID-19. Can't wait for the competition to finally move in and do it right for a change
I just moved to Chicago from Dallas and was so excited to experience my first dispensary but I literally had no idea what to expect or what to look for! I'm so glad a friend recommended going to MedMen because Marcelo was so helpful and knowledgeable. Helped me understand more about the strains and about the products. I will continue to go back even if it was a bit of a drive! I highly recommend going and make sure you ask for Marcelo!
Came in from Minnesota and was pleased. Organized, fast, kinda high prices, clean & easy transactions. I'd recommend.
Worst dispensary ever. When you call they don't answer when you place an order online they are rude. When you go in person they are out of everything. Seriously terrible. Compared to Colorado this is the minor leagues
Medmen Evanston is amazing. They are extremely organized and very efficientSince everything has been so crazy and strict with COVID , Medmen states open and changed to ordering online and then giving us a pickup window. This has been such a great and refreshing change. There are no longer long lines to wait in. You are literally in and out in under 20 minutes. That's with parking the car as well. Shopping online for sale day pickup is easy and much more relaxing and laid back. I love this way and I certainly hope that when we go back to some normalcy, you will keep this model. It completely works, why change it?
Stop bashing the store for things they have no control over! Outside of shortages, the experience was great. Friendly staff, easy ordering, and great product. Their inventory was also impressive considering other stores had nothing.
Came in today and was very excited. Didnt mind the 2 hour wait. The staff was very friendly, however I have to give one star because they forgot to put 1 of my items in my bag and I was charged for it. If people are going to come and wait patiently in line, their order should be correct. I even left a $27 tip. So all in all I'm out $25 bucks and no edibles. Please check the orders and the bags before customers leave!
Agree with all the other reviews. Of all the medmen I have been to this was my worst experience. All the way from terrible customer experience to store layout. It was not an enjoyable experience and I'll probably skip coming to this location. If you ever get a chance to go to the one in LA, do yourself a favor and go.
DISCRIMINATING and RUDE towards YOUNG BLACK MEN, then gave all the respect and even said excuse me sir to a white man while I'm standing there. I said "treat him like you treat me." They are making things up as they go. Weed has gone corporate. I'm good on that. Smoking causes cancer.
i decided to redo this review and give three stars because their corporate office returned my call, unfortunately i didn't have time to talk to them and i may still be looking for another location due to their high prices but because of their return call i decided to see one more time what happens when they roll out all their products and get set in i still think their prices may be too high for me as the the normal order i made was way more then i normally payed before they took over .
I think some people are bitter over not being able to find weed around Chicago, but this place has it all! The staff at this location have been nonstop the 2 times I have gone in. They had patience with me since I didn't know what I really wanted and were very knowledgable! It was impressive how they handle themselves with all the demand from so many people! They had things moving quickly and efficiently, it was really worth it! I will definitely be back!
I had an awesome experience. I been to the one in Vegas and it was great! I was excited to visit this location since it was in the area, Marcelo and his team was a great help! They went out of there way to give us hand warmers! Just to keep us warm! Marcelo was friendly and warm hearted they made the environment feel welcome and your not being rush! He is knowledgeable of his products and helped me better understand about the products! He made this trip worth the wait! I will come will be coming back! You're the man! Happy New Year! Cheers!
This place is incredible. Extremely well run, professional and very customer friendly. Kudos to the entire staff. Shout out to Pete, who I think is the manager of the store and has an organized, well-oiled machine running. Keep up the great work!
Who stops selling at 2PM? That only limits your sales. I get off work at 3PM so that will always inconvenience me. Thanks.
Nice selection of flowers. Efficiency gets you in and out in 10 minutes or less. Nice people too.
As a Medical Marijuana patient in two states (SnowBird) I have a bit of experience. I have been impressed by the staff, the management, and the process that they have developed. Lines for recreational and direct to the desk for medical. The selection of goods is amazing, especially when compared to other medical only states. Asher helped me and I was amazed at his knowledge and compassion. I look forward to a long relationship.
Wish I could leave zero stars. Aside from neither their website nor social media accounts alerting recreational customers that certain products were for medical only, promoting potential customers to travel to them for no reason, a few of their staff members were incredibly rude. I understand they have dealt with a huge rush the past three weeks, but civility should not be totally lost. Myself and a handful of other guests walked out. While I cannot speak for the others, I will undoubtedly never be back. Amateurs, avoid this disaster of a business at all costs.
Poor communication turn people away 20 minutes before they said they would. No raincheck, lost parking fees no empathy just a shrug. Will never come back.
Staff is really conscientious and doing their best. Between the huge demand + COVID19 they've set up a system that (once you get the hang of it) keeps ppl safe and gets them the medicine they need. The medicine is good and I look forward to a more relaxed time when I really explore the store and meds. Too bad you can't see the product the way you can in CO & CA and other places.
You couldn't find a more attentive and helpful staff! David, Paul...and others are very knowledgeable and friendly. The store is spotlessly clean with only the lingering odor of fresh buds! Great inventory! Easy access, parking in front of the store. I couldn't ask for more!
Including January 1st, I have been to MedMen in Evanston 7 times so this is long over due...My experience so far has been great, from a knowledgeable and friendly staff to quality products. I have purchased flower, cartridges, disposable pens, an assortment of edibles & drinks, and a pain relief lotion. I have recommended this shop to others and will continue to do so. My onIy bit of criticism is, I think it would better suit the customers to have the available menu accessible the night before online, rather then printed out the morning of.
Conventional wisdom says that if you are planning on buying recreational marijuana products in the Chicago area, your best bet is to go to the suburbs. Conventional wisdom has served me well as MedMen Evanston is everything I wanted and then some. This particular branch is located in Evanston, Illinois. It's close enough to the city that makes it convenient to get to via transit but far enough to avoid the crowds. To give y'all a sense of the efficiency of this place, I paid for 1 hour of parking outside but was in-and-out within 20 minutes.Once you enter, you'll be led to a line and handed a sheet of paper of the daily offerings. Prices are a bit high (~$55 for 1/8th of an ounce, ~$30-40 for 10pc gummies), but that is more by regulatory design and taxes more than anything else.Only complaint I have is the number of times I was asked to show my ID. Once was by the front-door security, one by the guy handing us the paper in line, one by the person that took our order, and the last by the cashier when I paid. But I understand the amount of precaution that these places must operate under. Overall, still a great experience.5/5. Fast & efficient. Lots of offerings. Will be back.
I am no pot expert, but it's pretty cool that you can pick the type of pot you want and the type of high you want, and the employees can help with that. I tried two different kinds the first time, "layer cakes" & "lavender something" & was super happy. Went back for more of the same. The employee explained that things sell out and then they never get them again so I need to move on to something else. She was young and I'm not sure I completely believe her or if it was the convenient thing to say to sell something else. Could that really be true????I asked her for help picking something calm & cheerful. She was nice but they had very few options in general. There were only three types of joints available. She was explaining that whenever there is a calm and happy well priced pot it sells out immediately because the Northwesten students buy it all up. We wound up settling on something that was so strong 2 small puffs made my head feel like it was doing somersaults. That was "Verano Swift Lifts" - and - never again. I do love the concept, but they need a much better selection and I need to make sure that the employees don't sell people the wrong kind of high.
I've never felt so ripped off buying weed. Over priced crap that does not match the online description. Taxes not included with the price and no mention or estimate given before showing up. Staff was rude, product is dry and stale. Absolutely the first and last time I purchase over the counter bull. If you are smart you will find a neighbor with better stuff at less then half the price, and they won't add tax after the fact. Horrible experience, awful buyers remorse. Take my advice and stay clear of this scam.mjbizdaily.com/multistat…
I used to go to MedMen all the time but had been going to a dispensary closer to home since I'm working from home due to covid. When I received a coupon for 20% off my order over $50, I decided to make a special trip since I prefer MedMen, but they would not honor it. Said it was for MedMen only. I purchased through the MedMen website, my receipt and products all say MedMen on them, in fact on my products it seems like another name is covered up by a MedMen sticker. Sadly, won't be returning because of this.
Best place. Best value. Great staff that is helpful if you need it. Can't recommend this place enough. Beats out all of the other dispensaries in so many ways.
I first came here two months ago and had purchased the freshest pre roll by the grace of good luck, I'm not naming the cultivator because I don't want to start drama on here, so back to the brick and mortar; The first thing that stood out to me is the confident faces in the store, nobody likes an amateur, especially in this industry. I believe I had the honor of the GM herself checking me out, I recognised a natural born leader in her from the experience. She was a veteran when it came to knowledge and giving me the right answers to my questions. I will say that if you're visiting and don't have a problem traveling to ANY store for your adult use needs, THIS ONE RIGHT HERE is the one you should be going to. Through and through all the butter and syrup with the pandemic going on, this is the most dusted and well maintained, well trained, and well kept canna store I've written a review about thus far. I always like to do a surprise follow up for every place I write about, and the "MedMen" store is only improving like a long term investment in a short term time period.
WATCH OUT FOR THEIR INACCURATE WEBSITE!!!As a medical user with significant health issues after a brain injury, I already didn't love this place. Their set-up makes it clear they value recreational users way more than medical users. Unfortunately, that seems true everywhere I've gone (other than GreenGate, but now they are a Zen Leaf dispensary like this place, which was MedMen and is now Zen Leaf too).On my last visit here, in my preorder, I picked two products according to their website description:- Innocent 1:1:1 Dark Chocolate Cherries (which I've purchased many times at GreenGate, and are supposed to be 1:1:1 THC:CBD:CBN. This is important for me as I am trying to have the benefit of THC without the high of THC, and both CBD and CBN reduce THC's "high" feeling and CBN also helps with sleep, which I need. I even discussed with my bud tender how excited I was about the cherries, including discussing the CBN they had)- Sky Walker Live Sugar Wax (which I picked because the strain is excellent for nerve pain, and because it was a wax, I can lack coordination and always pick thicker, more solid concentrates so I'm able to break it apart and use it without spilling or wasting it)But instead of the items the website said I was purchasing, I got THC only cherries, and a Live Resin Sugar which is soupy and impossible for me to use. I even let them know my issue with the wax before I left (as soon as I realized it, which I found out from the bud tender as soon as I paid). The manager was completely unapologetic for the mislabeling and only offered to discount me if I wanted to buy something else (um, no, I'm not rewarding their f-up by giving them more money, thanks).I didn't realize the issue with the Cherries until I got home, wrote them an email and sent pictures and have heard... nothing. Wow. I just spent almost $300 at this place (which is a big order for me and needed to last a while), and tipped the bud tender $20 before I realized I'd been screwed. I now have $93 of product that won't work for my medical needs, and they can't even be bothered to respond. So now IDPH has received an email to alert them to multiple mislabeled products at this dispensary. Hoping that will get this place to do a better job, not that I'll ever spend another dime there. F this place! (& I don't feel bad at all saying so)
Super clean, visually pleasing, the staff is the most kind, friendly and knowledgeable staff I have experienced from any dispensary I have visited around the world. There was no rush like many places, it feels like they honestly want to help you find the best medicine for you. I will not go anywhere else.
Under construction & change in owners. You are in a construction zone. Extremely loud. Construction on the other side of plastic. Hard to hear, masks an added necessary challenge. Jury is out on new owners. Not doing a good job of transition at all. Low rating caused by corporate not people in the store.. Staff is outstanding. They bend over backwards to be helpful. They are working under horrible conditions.
Quick, easy transaction. Placed my order online, and picked it up in the store not more than an hour later. Helpful and friendly staff. Only bummer is that it's cash only.
Went there yesterday for my first time. Nice open environment. The staff was super helpful and super friendly. Totally worth the 30-minute drive
The deals, and variety here are way better than in my neck of the woods. Come here on my Fridays after to stock up for the weekend. Friendly staff. Always in and out quick. They Rock
A great experience here at Zen leaf. Luke was very helpful to the needs of my autistic daughter. He listened and was very understanding. thanks again for a pleasant experience
