i don't even know. this was an abysmal hellhole of a place. my children died in a hot car as i waited for my order. civilizations crumbled. recommend bringing a nutritious snack in to survive. completely understand everyone bringing dogs in, they might worry their owner has left them forever if they didn't. i award you no points (a reluctant star), and may willie nelson have mercy on your souls.

They worried more about their shitty playlist than getting your order ready. They make you wait in one room, then wait in a weird hallway before you even see any weed. Wack dispensary, wack staff.

DO NOT go here unless you have major time to kill. The check in system they use is terrible. I always order online and schedule a pick up window, yet end up waiting 20-30+ minutes EVERY TIME. One line to get carded, another to check in, a third to get into the dispensary area, and finally you have to wait until they call you to the window. They shuffle the walk-ins into the same check in line as preorders meaning the only advantage that preordering has is skipping the menu selection. On multiple occasions half a dozen people have been called to the window before me, even though they were in line behind me and checked in after I did. I'm not talking about medical patients, I'm talking walk-ins and other preorders. I starting going elsewhere a few months back, but figured I'd give it another go. Just as bad as always.

The worst dispo I've gotten anything from. I just don't know how you have only 2-3 counters open while there's 20 employees in the building all in the little room interacting with each other never the customer.

Not a great selection, steep prices, only one line even if you have an appt/pickup time and are a medical patient, and some of the staff were unprofessional. I also heard a lot of the regulars say it was a bad business but they only came because they lived close by.

This was my first trip to a dispensary and I didn't even end up purchasing anything. First, the wait took a while which is fine, I get that they're trying to limit people because of Covid but they're trying to make us decide what we want before going on. I don't know what I want which is why I was trying to go in the first place.Secondly I went with my wife and she wasn't allowed in with me which defeated the point of us going together. I wanted to browse a d ask questions with her. Then they said that if she came on she'd be forced to order something on her own. Okay, last time I'll ever visit this company.  Ended up going to Verilife in Rosemont. I guess Moca being how they are was a blessing since it forced me to discover much better dispensary.  It's much more inviting inside as well

I never write reviews but was prompted to due to the wild and externally long wait time.  I preordered, showed up at my assigned time and still waited 45 minutes for my order (2 items).  There are a number of dispensaries in area, I'd recommend all of them above MOCA.

I always have to give myself a pep talk before coming to Moca, as I know the experience is going to take awhile and something will go wrong. I am a medical patient, and started using Moca several months ago. At first, I really loved it as they by far have the largest selection out of all dispensaries in the city. However, the changes they have made recently definitely prioritize recreational customers. First off, even with a scheduled pick up time, anticipate waiting at least 30 minutes to get your order. You will have to wait in line to get inside, then wait again when you are actually inside to be called to get your product. There are two separate entrances- and the rec side ALWAYS moves faster. In addition, the way they call people up to get their order makes no sense. Every time I'm there people that came in after me get their order before me.I have complained on numerous occasions about this, and I'm always told my concerns will be addressed by management (as I wanted to try and get this fixed before leaving a bad review)- but then I come for my next visit and experience the same thing. The final straw for me was a visit I had yesterday. They now round up or down on your total because they don't want to give you change- which is understandable- except rounding UP is not legal. I shouldn't have to pay more because you don't want to give out change.I'm in the process of figuring out what dispensary I am going to change to- and if you're a medical patient, you probably should to.

I've been here before, always with an appointment and it's been fine.  Tonight, there were a bunch of appointments and walk ins lined up and one by one, walk ins were let in before people who pre-ordered.  When I got to the check in point, when I asked what the point of pre-ordering was, she said "you chose to come on a Friday, it's busy".  That's why I booked a pre-order.  To avoid having to wait in line behind walk ins.  I planned ahead specifically to avoid this situation.  Staff doesn't give a shit though -- "it's busy".Save your time and go to Sunnyside, they've got the capacity to get you in and out in under 10.  Better yet, give their license to minority/POC owned dispensary that cares about their customers.  Amateur hour.

The security is really rude, inconsistent and unprofessional often. They are the first thing that you encounter when you come to this place and they talk to you like you're a trash person. There are dispensaries further north that are much better. When mocha opened I thought it was a really cool personable place but it's not. I don't feel safe going there because they don't follow Covid restrictions very well (masks half off and too many ppl in the place). Ps prices are way high

I went early in the morning. There was a line before the doors opened. This was my first time visiting since the Ascend focused rebranding. I'm only giving 4 stars because the variety of stock is better than other dispos in Chicago. The entry process and security has been streamlined but the maze with cannabis art is still in effect, which I know a lot of people disliked. I'm not a medical patient as of writing this review but I believe the Fullerton door is exit only; it was previously where medical patients could enter. Now everyone enters on the Milwaukee Ave entrance and is divided into medical and recreational at the door. I was in and out in under 10 mins because I pre-ordered online. They no longer are mandating Covid-19 guidelines like social distancing or mask. I was one of two customers wearing a mask, and only a few staff members were wearing mask. If that makes you uncomfortable, heads up. The main area is so messy, it could definitely be better utilized like Sunnyside River North, in my opinion. They also recently joined the Last Prisoner project. I hope MOCA can continue to improve in the future.

Bought a pack of 5 prerolls that was empty on 4/20/21. The store offered to do nothing when I called after finding out later that night when opening the package. Not even an "I'm sorry" after I called. After emailing, the offer of a credit was less than I paid for the product. Disappointed in products and service. *Update, the manager, David Liddle was so condescending on the phone with me and lied about sending me a refund. Never hire David Liddle or Dave Lids as he goes by sometimes.

I went to the dispensary the morning after ordering online and receiving a time window.  There are 4 separate employee interactions in the process.  Security guard looks at your ID and wands you down - this is expected and the security guard was great (and the only positive interaction I had here). Then you go in and show your ID again to someone behind a desk.  Poor customer service - you are not treated like human.  Next you go into a waiting hallway until the light on the door turns green and you go into a secondary check point.  Again, poor customer service with very curt/annoyed attitude where you again show your ID.Then you wait in the actual dispensary until your name is called.  Again, curt/bad professional service. You're made to feel you're an inconvenience to them almost entirely throughout the process. After showing my ID for the fourth time, I tried paying with an AMEX (which I didn't know wasn't allowed - debit or cash only). And before I could count my cash the women "helping" me said in an annoyed tone "you don't have cash?" As it turns out I did have cash and paid and left. That was the best part - when I was finally out of there...All in all if you don't mind root canals, this place is great. Also, if you like when lemon juice gets in to a cut on your finger, again this place is for you.  I'm not sure what the deal is...but there has to be a better experience somewhere in Chicago and I'll be looking for that.

Medical: Place an order before hand online and select the time slot for you to pick up the medicine order. Picked the 2-2:30 time slot, waited outside in line for 25 min. 5 min wait inside the small vestibule, then 22 min before my name was called for my order once inside. All the while building was at capacity and they still let Recreational customers in the door while medical patients waited inside and out. What's the point of pre ordering and selecting a time slot if you put patients at risk in line and waiting for order to be made? This place will not get another dime of my money. ALSO PARKING COULDN'T BE WORSE. The medical side looks like a factory compared to the recreational side, that right there tells you who is more important to the owner. COMPLETE CLOWN SHOEs

Pros: website shows price including tax in product listing which can be a bit confusing at first, but is helpful after you figure it outCons: Lengthy pickup process. SLLLOOOWW logistically. Waited forever in line for pickup even though I had a designated pickup time. Not sure what the holdup was, especially since it's just pay and gtfo with your stuff.Doubt I'll go back here unless they work out their logistical problems

Still terrible, still making tons of people wait in line in different areas of the store. I really just don't understand what the endgame is here, to make it feel exclusive ?!?? I hate this place, please someone make another dispensary in Logan. Oh also, it takes so long multiple people have full books on hand - like 500+ page books. Get your sh*t together.

The previous reviews left me assuming that my experience here would be less than stellar. However, I was happily surprised. Every person (one, all but one), was AMAZING! Of course the person that matters the most is the one that checks your order out. She was SO helpful! She had informed me of things this know-it-all definitely needed to know. She was also stylish and adorable while helping out. I will definitely be back.In comparison, at Zen Leaf, they never have what you actually order, at Sunnyside they rush their clients. This was a good pick and they carry my favorite edible brand.

Thank you, MOCA, for helping me chill the eff out. They've been great whenever I've received a dud. Only encountered a sorta rude employee on the phone once, but this was well over a year ago and all other interactions have been quite pleasant. When I first became a patron, I probably kept the poor budtender 45 mins past close and she took it like a champ... I didn't like the mandatory "order ahead" system when it was implemented, but I get why it's currently a necessity. Wish they had curbside pickup like the other dispensaries, though... It also kind of sucks that the personalized experience declined for medical users now that the dispensaries are flooded with rec users, but I can't really fault MOCA for that. Maybe they should have more frequent med-only days.Keep in mind you're paying a premium for Illinois product and prices will be quite high wherever you go. That's just how it is.

Made trip over since online and in the phone say 8:30pm closing (it's 6:41pm as I write this and have been home about 30min now) - disappointed that they shut services down when it's only me and 2 other people left in line and the rest were called in....really?  3 more people were a problem and that far ahead of posted hrs? Not encouraging and no reason given.  There are other options outside of our Logan neighborhood that are further, but that we can count on that will get our business instead.

Will be switching my medical dispensary due to today's visit. Terrible new online system. It takes twice as long to put your order together because of the terrible UX and you have to re enter your medical ID every time because they're not even using a system designed for dispensaries. Had to wait 30 min outside today because they were slammed with recreational customers. Medical patients should always get priority but recreational customers were moving through faster. There are better customer experiences in Chicago so I'm done with MoCa.

I've wanted to try this dispensary so I preordered and went. Little did I know that I would get my order after an hour and a half of 4-5 lines. Honestly, I didn't feel safe, regardless of what they called social distancing. Being locked between two doors, that felt like a prison. The sad thing is, they know they gotcha. You'll put up with it, because you ordered. Last time I'll go there. They don't even seem to care about the people with medical cards. I saw them take someone with a medical card in the adult use line and make him go around and get back in line. Place is a joke.

I'd been enjoying recklessly spending more money on bougie weed than I'm used to here at MOCA. The last couple of months, I've been maintaining my high through the selection of high quality shakes typically available at the River North location. Since they did their month long over-promotion at that location, they've been running pretty low on supply. So I looked to the Logan square MOCA.First purchase was fine. I expect a certain level of feeling like a factory farmed stoner, to whom the employees occasionally look at with annoyance/scorn/judgement when my chronic indecision comes out. Yesterday, decided to re-up with the "High Supply Rollins" Shake by Cresco labs. My boyfriend picked it up, and smoked some while I was still at work, didn't tell me about it or his opinion of the new strain. So I came home and smoked a bowl, not having anyone's prior experience in my head to shape my opinion of it. Let me also preface this by saying: I have never, in my 6+ years of smoking weed every day, complained about the taste of any strain I've smoked (minus one time my friend found a grocery bag full weed literally in a dumpster, and for science I tried it, and it tasted like gasoline.) Anyway, I immediately said, "okay this weed tastes weird, like really bad and artificial." My boyfriend said, "Okay yeah, I wasn't going to say anything, but doesn't it taste like spice?"I've never smoked spice, so I compared it to mugwort--which i have smoked--but more specifically, mugwort soaked in Pine-Sol, an experience I have never smoked/imagined/described as such in any of the herbs and spices I've inhaled. After another toke or two, I had a headache, and had to stop for the night; scrambling for pieces of bud off old stems to fill my recovery bowl.I remembered my old drug dealer, and wondered how he was doing, and if this was karma for turning to the recreational weed machine. When I started purchasing dispensary weed, I did so because I wanted to make sure I was getting the safest, quality product I could smoke. Instead, I ended up smoking pseudo spice (I.e., probably-unripe, marijuana plant matter, sprayed with a thin layer of concentrate to give the product acceptable THC levels, and rebranded as "shake"). I voiced this complaint to MOCA Logan Square, and received a very condescending response essentially saying, "Sorry, pothead, you must need a different strain. Can't offer any form of compensation to help you afford the re-up, but can definitely put some popcorn aside for you to pick up." Like, have you not smoked this yourself, Dr. Ganja PhD? I think you'd give it a similar diagnosis as we did.I didn't realize being a marijuana dispensary/budtender places you above the basic laws of business. That is, when you sell a customer a low-quality product that was falsely described on your website, you should try to amend things to ensure future patronage. Instead, MOCA (Logan Square at least) lost two regular customers, that have steadily recommended several other customers. For the betterment of future customer experiences: when you receive a valid complaint about a purchase, at least offer 50% off the next purchase. Or 20%. Anything would've made me feel good enough to spend more money at this establishment, today! I'd gladly return all 13.9 grams that are left in the container, because I will not be smoking them. Also an idea: if you know what you're selling is the weed/flower equivalent of vegan cheese, maybe mention that it's going to be an acquired-taste-kind-of experience in the description so you don't have customers feeling shorted. Also, PSA to the entire legal marijuana industry and those it employs: the pretentious, condescending, stressed-out customer service vibe you so often put out is unacceptable. You're essentially a glorified, bureaucratic government drug dealer. Don't pretend like you're some untouchable expert because you have a job in an, albeit amazing, field that has revolutionized weed/technological consumption mediums, because we--on the other side of the counter--have been steady consuming. When veteran smokers say they smoked appallingly shitty weed, they probably smoked appallingly shitty weed. And if you're going to be modern about this, you should consider responding with empathy, and do what you can to resolve the problem, and still manage to turn a profit for your business.

Oh boy I decided to try Moca again since they HAD a  great selection of Rev, Aeriz, and Bedford. They do not anymore. They have Ascend which if you smoke I don't need to tell you what that means. Let's discuss the atmosphere. Do you want to buy your cannabis from the most corporate soul sucking dispensary? Think Apple store of weed but peddling sub par product (see above). The original staff made the place, and they are barely there anymore. There are so many people working that every time you go there is a new person (maybe they have high turnover because they suck at managing too?). The whole culture is about experience, well my experience has exponentially sucked since Ascend took ownership. They charge medical patients tax but wave carrots at you with happy hour specials on you guessed it... ascend products. Their points program used to be 25 off with 500 points and now it is 20 off. Soon it will be you pay them to enter. Whoever is stocking the place maybe has never smoked because the last month it has been an inferior flower and edible selection. PS They still charge 65 for Verano and Revolution, not everywhere else does guys. Upgrade your cannabis and find any other dispensary.

Been going here on and off for almost a year, I try my best to avoid it but sometimes I find myself there simply because it is so close to me. Even with that, I've had to start going out of my way to others. This place is crazy expensive compared to the others I've been to. I have bought the same exact 8th (same bud, same brand) at other dispensaries and it came out to around 60$ when at MOCA it's somehow 85$. on top of how expensive it is the staff are entirely hit or miss, some of them are kind and helpful others obviously don't want to be there selling bud. Also, the appointment/pickup system is absolutely asinine I know other reviews have stated it but just wow I literally make an appointment and get stuck standing there 15 minutes or more after my scheduled appointment while people off the street can just walk right in since the only line is the backed-up appointment line because MOCA cant figure out how to schedule things. There's more I could go on about but let me just end it with there are so many dispensaries around here don't waste your money or patience at this expensive incompetent place.

Great selection but the way customers are allowed in was ridiculous. They let walkins cut in line in front of people who pre order online. Completely backwards. A woman behind me called inside while she was standing in line, to cancel her pre order, then cut the rest of the line to walk right in as a "walk in" and she paid and left before I was even in the door. Makes no sense.

I waited until the buzz died down to visit MoCa. Like you, I saw the reviews and was hesitant to visit. However, my experience was positive. For those that don't know how it works, assuming you are a recreational user, here are the steps:1. Upon entry, a security guard will use a wand to look for (presumably) weapons. 2. After passing by the nice security person, you'll show your ID to the next person who will scan it to verify you are of age. 3. Next you walk to a table to get a ticket. The numbers on the ticket dictate when you go to the back room. Usually it's groups of twenty or so. 4. Upon waiting ~15 minutes, when your number range is shown on the screen, you head through the hallway to the back room. 5. Hand your ticket to the person behind the glass. 6. Go through another door to wait in line for the cashier. 7. While waiting, you can review the menu online or from their handouts. 8. (This probably should have been Step 1: make sure you arrive with cash! If you don't have cash, now is the time to use the ATM while in line.)9. When it's your turn, tell the cashier what you want and pay. 10. Go home, be safe, and enjoy! Will go back again.

Everyone marking MOCA down for not having flower or having to close because they simply don't have stock is being ridiculous. There is a shortage - especially for flower - not MOCAs fault. If you want to grade them down on sevice? Sure. If that was your experience, that's fair. Your tantrums about the lack of flower/supply just makes you sound like an entitled fucking baby. It's been legal for a month after being illegal for just shy of 100 years - be patient. As to my experience, I went on a Saturday morning there was no line which may have been an anomaly. I was able to walk straight in straight up to the desk and make my purchase. After getting past the security guard at the door who was at worst indifferent, everyone was remarkably nice.My only criticism was that the menu was printed on a busted sheet of wrinkled printer paper. A minor detail but c'mon - a little pride in presentation would have been nice.

THE WORST DISPENSARY IN CHICAGO FOR MEDICAL PATIENTS. They have totally forgotten their roots and who kept them in business for years before recreational and only care about getting more money now. Had a scheduled pickup time at 5:00 and had to wait over an hour outside while the Recreational line was flying through with no issues. So people who want to have fun get 1st dibs but people who need medicine are 2nd class citizens? Multiple people in line called (there was 16 of us) to find out the situation and not until then did they send people out to assist us. No thanks. I can get treated better elsewhere and give my money to a dispensary that pretends to care. DO NOT GO HERE FOR MEDICAL!

Horrible customer service! Today my husband went at 7:30pm to wait in line outside to be told they are no longer taking walk-ins, after waiting 20 minutes! We live in the neighborhood but will not be back! We'd rather drive an hour away and get good customer service. I was always curious as to why MOCA only had 3 stars but now I know why. It's not just the prices but the horrible customer service! Take your money elsewhere folks.

During Covid19, as a recreational customer, you place your order online and select a time slot to come pick it up. Many dispensaries are doing the same. moca does things a bit different though. They apparently do not have a limit on how many customers can sign up for any particular time slot. In addition, they only had one person working the counter (where medical customers take precedence). This mega oops resulted in a line outside that stretched almost the entire block. 4 hours. That's how long people were standing in line. If you are a recreational customer, stay away from this shit show of a business. There are far better dispensaries in the city.

Always have had great experiences here until today. I am a medical patient and they wouldn't let me in the entrance until I had an online order placed. I had to walk around the block to the medical side, and then they wouldn't let me in there and I had to walk around again. After this third time walking to different entrances, they made me stand outside in the frigid cold to place an online order. At this point, my disability was acting up and I started shaking and they still wouldn't let me inside to wait. Never coming here again

The one star is for the diversity of products offered and discounts. I have enough stories to fill a menu but I'll keep it high level. Customary service is appalling. I have been both over and undercharged by hundreds of dollars on more than one occasion. Ever since the first time that happened I've asked them to show me the receipt in advance and show me them putting my products in the bag because they won't let you linger a few minutes to ensure you got what you paid for. I have honestly never seen such an amateur business. It's truly shocking. After today's experience I am finally pulling the plug. I'll pay more but I'll have peace of mind I'm not getting hosed and won't be treated with disrespect. Little piece of advice - when your customers drop big money treat them like you appreciate their business and maybe throw in some training in basic manners for the staff including security.

Very confused about the low rating of this place?  MOCA downtown is the best dispensary I've been to so far in Chicago.  I specifically remember one time when I had purchased the cartridge that was faulty when I had opened it, so I called them immediately and they gave me another for free.  I had to wait for awhile but they were VERY apologetic and it was also a Friday (anyone who's a regular knows Friday-Sunday are their busiest days and should expected a bit of wait time).  They've been nothing but friendly to me (except for this one security guard who's improved the last times I've been there), always saying hello and make it a point to say it's nice to have me back!  When reading reviews keep in mind this is the first year weed is recreationally legal so of course they're bound to have hick ups every now and then, and I for one think they've done an amazing job doing their best to handle the crazy days.

I am a medical patient and had recently changed to this dispensary after moving near this location. Out of the 4 times I have tried to place an order, 3 have been completely unsuccessful. Poor customer service, long wait times, frustrating online purchasing experience, and low/ unpredictable supply of product has made me regret shopping here. Most recently, after placing an order one and making an appointment for pick up, I waited 30 minutes (the time of my pickup window) just to be told that they were at capacity, closing, and that they were canceling my order. When trying to reason with them I was given no answers and no apology. Safe to say, I am going back to my old dispensary!!

I saw the review of the person complaining about the security guard, but she was the best part of my experience at this overpriced yuppie hellhole. she was very polite. I walked in, which I quickly figured out is both encouraged and subtilely discouraged by the staff. I was asked by the clerk if I had looked at the menu already, which I had not (there was no visible menu anywhere in the dispensary) and he proceeded to page the girl at the front desk to tell her to "please encourage walk ins to look at the menu before entering". okay, weird (and kinda pushy if you ask me). I told him I had a pretty cut and dried idea of what I wanted (just a G of the lowest price stuff to roll up into spliffs at a park on my last day in town). he said they only had eighths. "Okay, so what's the lowest price one?" fifty. five. effing. dollars. "okay, screw it, I'll take it. do y'all take Apple Pay?" they did not. "Do you guys have a chip reader for cards?" (my swiper on my card is beat up and only works ten percent of the time) they did not. needless to say, I was boned and I took my business elsewhere. i need to remind myself to go out of the loop before picking up at a dispensary my next time in Chicago.

Wow! I don't think anything has ever taken longer before in the existence of time as a concept. It's a Wednesday night. How busy can you guys be, c'mon now. 45 minutes and we're STILL in line. If you order for a set time, you should be able to retrieve the product WITHIN that set time. We're officially 30 minutes over, despite arriving an HOUR ago. Ridiculous. You'll have better luck buying pot from a local high schooler.

I'm a medical patient and I've been going to MOCA for about 2 years. Always very professional, well-organized process including security check when entering. Never had to wait more than 20 mins, when advance ordering on-line there's virtually no wait. I do avoid going during busiest hours so I've never stood in line. Since Covid, they limit number of people from entering inside, so I've never seen a crowd. There are sometimes out-of-stock items but website is up-to-date. Shortages are common to all dispensaries. There are always several staff for consulting who are knowledgeable and can recommend products. I don't know how their prices compare, I think it's too expensive everywhere. But, MOCA does have a "loyalty" program, and often I get a little freebie.

Went through their online ordering procedure which gave me a specific pickup window time. Called ahead to find out what door to use. Waited 45 minutes in the pouring rain to be told I was in the wrong line (aka the one I was told to wait in on the phone) and had to go get in the other line that is also down the block. Why do you have pickup time windows if you're letting too many people order for each spot? Sunnyside will now have all my business!

Top shelf weed should not cost 80 bucks for an 8th. That's just disrespectful and cannabis shouldn't be expensive. Almost a 100 for a half gram cartridge as well. That's insanity. Anyone that knows weed, should just find a cool home grower and buy top shelf ounces for 70.

The budtenders and staff are always so kind, helpful, and professional. They've got a nifty rewards program and the ordering process is super easy and well-explained. Going to pick up the product is a smooth process. They even have a separate entrance for their medical patients! (Which makes me a bit biased, I suppose!) They always keep their customers in the loop. I've been going here for months and months and I've never had one bad experience, encounter, or product.

The only really good thing MOCA has going for it is the location and that it was one of the first dispensaries in Chicago. There's not many places in Chicago you can go to get medical cannabis and MOCA is a great example of what happens when there is no/little competition. When you come here expect NO specials, deals, or anything cheap. This is by far the most expensive dispensary for the same product you get other places. I would highly recommend trying a place you haven't tried before if you're a long time customer of MOCA. You might be shocked at the deals and specials other places have. I recently changed back to MOCA because I moved closer to there but after going back a few times I'm changing to somewhere else. Its also awkward in there. You can't order from the bar. First you hang out in the waiting room. Then someone takes you to a desk and you sit there and look at the menu with them. They then take your order give you a number and you go back to the waiting until your order is ready. Then you go to the bar and the person there has your order. The workers are all SO WEIRD about this system. Adding something or asking a question at the bar is awkward. The person sitting at the desk with you knows no more (and sometimes less) than the people working behind the bar. There are no pictures or information about the product they offer. Just a list on a white sheet of paper with THC content and price. "Modern" would be if like I could walk up to a self service iPad and see everything I wanted with pictures and explanations then put in my order and have a seat or walk up to the bar and ask the "budtender" (Is there another name for this profession?). Some tasteful acoustic panels to cut down on the noise in the concrete box that is the main room. Beverages in the main room for thirsty people waiting. I would urge the owners to walk into the place like they are a customer and feel the actual experience. Other dispensaries are starting to pop up and offer more than MOCA. Some of this is the fault of the State of Illinois. We should be able to go to any dispensary, any day, any time they are open. The lack of competition and overall vision doesn't offer much reason for MOCA to improve. 2/5

They don't prioritize medical patients. I had to wait 30 min outside and another 20 min inside... with a pre-order. The Herbal Care Center never takes more than 15 min and they have a way better selection. Won't be coming back.

The reason for only three stars is the lack of bud/flower they actually have in stock. When I first started going they had so many sativa options and now they might have three so I really have to plan ahead. I'm hoping when it's recreational it won't be such an issue. But I like this dispensary! Everyone is really friendly including security especially considering the broad spectrum of people they probably have to deal with. All the cannabis specialists are knowledgeable and had great suggestions when I was new to the experience. Hopefully I can update this review with a couple more stars when plants are more plentiful because this spot is a gem.

I would NOT recommend this dispensary to anyone. I already knew MOCA was incredibly racist from the way they treat Black customers. Everyone I know who has gone there has mentioned their discomfort with the white staff and their unfriendliness. As sad as it is, I actually expected this would happen with the legalization of cannabis, but when I saw that they had the AUDACITY to pretend to be in solidarity black people who are out fighting for freedom right now, and now knowing how their black employees have been treated, I had to bring this to light. A black friend of mine worked for Moca and her last week was in March, they have not paid her for her last week of labor (Black people doing unpaid labor sound familiar?). They have refused to respond to her requests. They also fired multiple Black employees and/or cut their hours without cause, only to replace them with white workers. I confronted them on their racism on their social media pages, but they quickly deleted mine and others' comments. Do NOT support this racist dispensary.

I pretty much only use MOCA because I have to since I moved to Logan Square from Lakeview. I didn't realize how good I had it at MedMar in Lakeview until I started coming here. Security is always super rude despite always having my card and ID ready to go. Today I went on my lunch break to pick up a quick online order. Their online menu is really hard to navigate and I accidentally checked out before I was actually ready. When I picked up my order at MOCA I asked to add a gram to my order and they made a huge deal out of it and said they would do it this time, but don't be surprised if the next person said no. UM? There were maybe 3 people in the whole place so it wasn't busy which could be the only other reason I could understand as to why they wouldn't want more business? but whatever. And their hours are super weird, they close on 2pm in the middle of the week? My weed dealer was more reliable! Take your busses to MedMar in Lakeview if you can, where they greet you with a smile and actually want your money!

Usually great!  However, there always seems to be glitches with online ordering.  Today as they went through system changes, the website said online ordering wasn't available but nothing about picking up in general. So after arriving they said they could begin sales at 1:30 pm.  I arrived at 1:30 pm and stood outside for 40 minutes before doors were even opened.  No employees came out to give an update whatsoever.  What should have been a 20 minute trip turned into taking over 2 hours of my day just like that, not even receiving my order and with an embarrassing lack of communication.  It's really disappointing that people who are normally very friendly would let a line of customers stand outside for an hour and leave disappointed.  I'll be finding a new dispensary.

The coldest, most dystopian nightmare of a retail experience I've ever had. I've bought cannabis in several different cities and through different companies, this is by far the worst experience, it's barely comparable. Metal detector body scan upon entry, five ID checks (!!!!!), you get shuffled through countless cold, cavernous, windowless hallways and checkpoints, all separated by heavily locked doors, it's like an insane asylum. And cash only. What a joyless experience, I'll never go back. They clearly prioritize irrational fears of getting robbed over any kind of customer experience.

Their computer system shut down yesterday which is fine because stuff happens. The way they communicated to customers was awful. The only method to communicate to staff was through the security guard. He was rude and not compliant. After roughly 10 minutes I asked the security guard if they can just notify me when the system is back on. He responded by saying he, "doesn't know when the system will be back on". This obviously isn't what I asked and when I repeated the question he responded the same way except with more frustration and impatience. After this long interaction he seemed to have given up and said MOCA will contact me when the system is back on. As expected, MOCA did not contact me and I didn't get to pick up the products I was going to purchase. MOCA, whoever your security guard was between 1:30pm-2:00pm on 10/8, he needs to work on his people skills if he is going to represent your brand. Due to his attitude, I will not be doing business with this company.

MOCA is an awful place to go for your first experience of buying weed in IL. Everyone was rude through out the whole process - from the cops taking tickets outside, to the cashiers inside. Everything felt rushed, and there was no one there who wanted to genuinely help any of their customers understand what we were purchasing. I'm definitely not a first time user of recreational bud, but it's essential for this place to have some sort of customer service aspect to it. It's a fine dispensary. However, they were definitely not equipped to handle legalization on 1/1/2020. They announced they were open for recreational sales a month  ago, but have only been (actually) open and selling for 2 of those weeks. I understand they're probably doing their best, but it's more of a hassle to figure out if they are open that day or what they have in stock. Once the craziness dies down I will probably go here more regularly, but in the meantime, I'll have to continue going elsewhere.

Really overpriced!!! Definitely the most expensive dispensary in Chicago!!! Not sure about quality control here. The products ashes burned black not gray? I looked more into it and it has to do with the CHEMICAL  nutrients not fully being flushed out of the product. When recreational hits, I strongly recommend craft growers! It's Illinois quality control way of keeping grow ops small for quality not quantity. Be aware that not all nutrients are good. Many growers use chemical nutrients to fatten the weight of the buds = to make more money! Quality organic grows are not as profitable but are far better for consumption. Next time you go in, ask them what nutrients are being used, I bet they won't know. If they do know, then look them up. I'd bet they are not organic!

I've been going to the location in Logan Square for a few years now and have loved the experience. I decided to go to the river north location today because of the sale going on this week. I'm sure it's due to the amount of people that are coming in and out but the customer service was seriously lacking. Yelling at someone, "hey! Get back here!" is not a good way to get someone's attention. I probably will just stick to the Logan Square shop. I know everyone is doing their best to navigate working and opening a new store in the middle of a pandemic, I know it can be challenging to give good customer service, but it's important when you can potentially be dealing with clientele that are there to treat their anxiety and PTSD, among other things. The location itself is nice and the on-site free parking is a bonus. If you live in the area I'm sure you'll enjoy going here once the crowds have died down and the staff is more comfortable with guest interaction.

Boring, awful buy experience. The worst I have encountered in Chicago. Woot for y'all!Had my first visit yesterday and decided to stop and write this review IRT. For the newbs, walking through their maze makes you feel like a mouse hoping there is a treat at the end of the experiment. I think I was the unlucky mouse put on the shit track. What is the deal with the constant checkpoints? Is it because they get high traffic and it's to slow down the influx of customers? I'd bet it is but since it is, they could utilize their space better and give customers a more rounded experience by displaying more items on the way to the final buy room. Such a wasted amount of time from the budtender to reception, some other guy that re-checks your information and then ultimately the butthead at the end of the line. I don't mean to be rude to said butthead, I just didn't understand why broham was rude-AF. If management reads this review, what is the effing point in selling smoking utensils and accessories if your cashiers won't allow customers to view or even look at said products. "We're busy" They weren't that busy. It wasn't 4/20 busy on this rainy afternoon. FFFFFuuuuuudge that. Back to their mouse maze. Wasted space, wasted opportunity. In the first room where meeting your budtender that is the best place to have a display case. Or, in the winding hallway towards reception. There could be an in-wall display with accessories or signage indicating deals and such. Put a simple numbering system on it so that customers can request them easily. This is the best spot to one-stop-shop. ie King Palm rolling leaves, screens, a new bong.. This idiocy reminds me much of Dispensary 33. All of it, from my budtender that didn't bother recommending anything to the cashier; I hated all of it. If not for the two pre-rolls I wanted, I would have just gone home. In the past I have requested friends to pick me up a thing or two. I think I'll stick to that in the future, no point wasting a portion of life in here.  I agree with the rest. Their site has gotten worse. The tie-in for their loyalty program wasn't working for me so I didn't bother with pre-ordering. The budtender suggested that I mention it to butthead, err the cashier. But butthead was too busy to bother with it. I guess no points for my purchase.

Very cool atmosphere to start with a few words about this location. The staff was friendly and communication was 100% ( If you're like me and can't hear with your face mask on, you know what I mean ? ) I especially enjoyed visually what they have done with the interior. The up cycling of the square footage is phenomenal. I think the vibe here is what can only be compared of that which  Starbucks tried to capture in their stores in the last 2 decades before the year of the pandemic. I enjoyed my visit and short wait in line for the pre order I placed to get the full 1st timer experience. Social distancing is strictly enforced here, a step above other dispensaries, this made me feel safe here. Thankful for MOCA

The system here is completely fucked. They let walk-ins off the street go ahead of people who scheduled appointments. I was 15 min early for my 6:30pm appointment I made online... I was turned away. In the mean time 7 people off the street went ahead of me. The security guard was very rude. For how much money this cost, the experience should be a pleasure. Also, their website is a joke. High school students could do a better job. It has adds for their own company constantly interrupting the ordering process. Site is very confusing. Asked the same info 3 times. Literally garbage. Worst experience ever. Genuinely if you HAVE to go here, plan to waste 2-3 hours of your life waiting for the 15 employees to "fill your order". I'm not exaggerating. Everyone is just standing around chatting, doing nothing, while customers wait 1-3 hours for orders to be fulfilled. Don't even bother preordering as you'll wait 45 min for those as well. This was the first dispensary I have gone to since Illinois legalized rec marijuana. I pre ordered some pre rolled joints and a chocolate bar, and upon getting to the dispensary I had to wait in line outside for covid measures, but the gentleman who was security at the door was very very kind, and made the line move fast. Upon entry I was greeted kindly, and shown where to go to pay for my pre order and where to wait in line. They have a cool system here, you wait for your name to be called and bud tenders hand you over a brown paper bag with your product (after double checking your order with you) and it felt like getting my lunch before school lol security opened the door for me to exit and was very pleasant. Dang, I loved this place! Staff is efficient and relatable. But after my most recent experience, I hope if I ever go there again I don't encounter the particular bud tender that we had over the weekend. He was impatient and a little cocky. You could tell he new his stuff and was very direct about showing it, felt like he was trying to just get us out the door rather than sell product and when I explained what I was looking for his explanation felt condescending. I always give this place the benefit of the doubt because it is so convenient but I have been there 6 times now and each experience is worse and worse. Will not be returning and do not recommend. By far the worst dispensary I've been to in Chicago. You feel unwelcome every time you walk in the door.Addition - they do not allows support animals in the facility which I have not experienced as a problem at any other dispensary. For a place supplying medicinal marijuana to people with mental health issues that is extremely disappointing. The gentleman speaking with me was very dismissive and essentially told me to go somewhere else.

This was my first trip to a dispensary so I can't really compare it to anything or anywhere else but it was a good experience for my friend and I. I liked that I could order online ahead of time and was able to read descriptions of all of the products and see reviews from other customers. It was nice to be able to take my time to plan out my order before I actually came in. The online ordering process was very easy and I was even able to schedule a pickup within an hour of when I placed my order which was super convenient. I specifically picked this dispensary because they only sell to recreational customers and I figured that would be easier than trying to navigate somewhere that mostly caters to medical clients. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and the pickup process was very smooth. The woman who took my payment went over my order with me before I paid and the man who actually gave my my order did as well, showing me each item before putting it into the bag. Everything was very efficient and only took about 15 minutes or so from arrival to leaving with our orders. All in all I am very satisfied with my experience here and next time I am in town I will definitely come back.

Edit: I guess my points didn't erase but there is still an issue with not being able to use my email address online to order. Though when I show up my points are added at the checkout.I'd still strongly recommend Moca over Sunnyside and day of the week.---------Every time they do an update to their points system they wind up erasing the points people have already accumulated. It's mine boggling they would do system rollout that would erase peoples points. The staff is cool, and the shopping experience is easy. But pushing major rollouts to the point system that erases points is fucking mine blowing. This is the second time this is happened. First time whatever I was super annoyed but I figured with cannabis being a new thing in Illinois I wasn't worth making a stink about. But a year and a half later with a point system that's been well-established. Mind blowing they would do thisI don't like giving bad reviews but this is certainly earned

I was recently in Chicago from California and decided to pick up something from this location. I actually went twice. Why the heck do you have 3 pre screenings before I even pay? Why is the security guard at the outside door worried about if I have a pick up or if I'm a walk In? Will he make a different decision about letting me in? I showed my ID 3 different times. If you don't trust the previous 2 people that looked at my ID get some new help. Glad I don't have to deal with this all the time.  The flower was decent if that helps.

This location is definitely the superior recreational location of the two MOCAs in the city. They take WALK INS! Each dispensary is a little different when it comes to ordering your greens. You'll see the menu after scanning a QR code - I love the selection on flower & edibles here. They also have plenty of other options. The wait depends on how many people have pre-orders before you. It's less crowded during the last couple of hours before closing. Very friendly & helpful staff on top of it. After paying, you have to go to another waiting area to wait for your name to be called to get what you just bought. I believe this location is just recreational, but it's definitely my favorite experience I've had buying recreational in IL since legalization by far.

Good selection, but they are so slow and make you wait more than every other dispensary (before you pay, after you pay).  It's disrespectful to customers from a time perspective.  No other dispensary runs like this.  Get your stuff together.

Great help with product picking from attendant, nice place, better than sunny side and similarly priced, professional, great product offerings. 4 star because of how expensive it is. Yes in Chicago in good area etc. etc. but 60-75$ for a half gram cartridge (before 40% tax) is insane!

Concerned about the security guard working the back door today! Waiting for my name to be called to pick up my order, I was watching a friend's snapchat play on my phone. The security guard gestured to the sign that read NO PHOTOS NO VIDEOS NO FACETIME. I told him it was only a snapchat & he insisted i was on facetime. Give that clearly overworked man a break!

If you need weed in river north, look no further. Great discounts and great deals for regular customers. Always a friendly vibe, super efficient and everyone is extremely professional. From the entrance to the exit I am greeted by friendly and professional people who are educated in what they sell. Love how they all wear the merch repping the products as well. Great prices.

Today was my first time visiting MOCA, and it was lovely! I took a gamble and was a walk-in and I barely waited at all. I sat down for maybe 1-2 minutes before someone helped me. They were very patient and helpful! The store is setup in a very logical, smooth fashion. Their staff was very friendly and helpful, which is not the case in all dispensaries! I paid with my debit card and it was super easy, but they have an ATM on site too. Good selection and prices, and the whole process was about 10 minutes. I did have to wait for maybe 5 minutes for my order to be packed, but for a walk-in that is more than reasonable, even fast in my opinion. I highly recommend visiting this location! it's also very close to the Grand red line stop, which is very convenient.

Visiting from CA and I'm surprised there aren't delivery services in Chicago in 2021! I stopped by this spot downtown and it's a modern and clean space. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy this process was, albeit a bit long. I walked in but you can pre-order for more streamlined service. ID checked at the door, then again at the first counter. You're then directed to a tablet where you can peruse the products with a staff member explaining how it works and on hand for any assistance. After adding to your cart and checking out, you wait in line to pay at one counter and then again for a budtender to call your name at another to pick up your order. I liked shopping on my own and being able to filter the products according to what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, you can't take a look at the actual products before purchasing and the prices are higher than expected. However, I understand that different states have different regulations for cannabis and appreciate the time taken to explain it to me. The folks here are friendly and knowledgeable. I got an eighth of Wedding Cake that was pretty good (but expensive at $55/8th for the quality), and a 1:1 s'mores bar that was delicious and effective. Would shop here again if I was in the area.

I am new to cannabis and dispensaries altogether! Iliked Elizabeth K's comment on getting a paper bag lunch! It was very secure and sanitary: you are asked for ID when you enter, and again when you proceed to the counter to state your business. It was a quiet but loose atmosphere. In the back, (you have to exit near an alley, NOT where you come in) I saw some heat lamps, so maybe when it's warmer people can 'partake, share an experience' outside. There is a cannabis tax, so watch out! It's tempting I suppose to stay with cheaper street sales, but this is at least quality assured.I got my gummies after a short wait when they called my name. It's hard to conceive people wanting their REAL names called when collecting marijuana/CBD/THC products but I'm 'old school'. I did not have a great first time experience but that's prob on me, and for another website altogether!

Pros: Great variety. Organized system. Walk-ins welcome. Pre-order online available. Out of state customers welcome. Cons: No first time customer deals. On the pricey side. It can be a bit of a wait since it gets busy and walk-ins are welcome.

The wait is extremely long. Had to wait outside for 30 minutes then another 40 minutes inside for an online order. They only take cash or debit. The products are good and the staff is nice but they should have more people working in the back section to pick up the product than in the front.

What an experience! Much better than the back alley stuff that I've seen before. This place is clean, professional and prompt. When I showed up, you have to check in with a security guard at the front, who eyeballs you, checks for ID, then sends you inside, where you get carded again, photographed, and sent inside. Once inside, you get a touch pad computer where you can browse for different products, which they have a variety of. Once you select, they send you to the counter, where you pay- by cash, or debit card. They have a work around where they can charge it to your credit card, but give you $3 in change back as some sort of exchange for the fee. Then you have to wait for some guy to show up from a vault to deliver the product to someone behind the counter who checks it and hands it over. The selection was strong. I've never seen such a variety of choice in the USA! I didn't like how once you get your stuff, they put it in a highly visible blue bag, and they send you out through the back exit of the building into some shady, cramped, poorly lit parking lot that just seems like a good place to get robbed. There's no security in the parking lot. Ahh yea, there's that back alley I'm used to . The products they sell seem to work juuuuust fine! They are pure, certified, bar coded, and labelled clearly.

First time in a dispensary in Illinois and I have to admit it went smoother than expected. It was a little disappointing on how it was set up because you can't see the product until you buy it. You order on a tablet then wait in a line to pay and then you wait till they call your name to pick it up. In addition, everything is heavily taxed in comparison to Colorado and non-residents are limited on how much mg they can order. However, I understand different states have their own ways on dealing with cannabis. I will say though that the advantage of ordering from a tablet is that you can filter out what you don't want, making it easier to decide what to order. Overall it was an easy and quick experience, the sativa edibles we ordered did the job right and the employees were extremely helpful in assisting with any questions we had. Definitely recommend!

Been here 5 times and every single time I waited over 30mims but today it's been a little over an hour!!!! What pisses me off is the workers which are super slow, carrying conversations w co workers, walking leisurely around the facility... kinda like they rather do anything but get customers served and out the door....

Astoundingly expensive prices, and I’ve been to a Lot of dispensaries. Am I in high school? Getting ripped off by the weed literati?! Maybe it’s a state thing, never purchased here before. Selection weak, but sufficient for my needs. Staff members were all friendly, helpful, and clear about procedures and selection. Wait was short. Good luck!

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Stopping through the city and randomly chose this dispensary (recreational) and was very pleased. The walls are painted really cool as you go to pick up your order too. Pricing is pretty comparable to others.

Recent branding/business changes have made this place far less beneficial for returning customers. I really liked the location (the workers, product, and prices), but won't return. The reward system kept me coming, but has been flipped completely to take advantage of customers (explanation below). Reward Points: This used to follow a very basic 1:1 scale to reduce the price for returning customers. The more you spend the more you get, right? Well, after the changes, the MORE points you use, the LESS they are worth. 300 points gets you $15 off, but 1000 points only gets $30 off? You can also exchange points for products, but you'll likely lose value there too. Fewer Deals: The website used to have 1-3 deals at all times with great options like free cart battery or added flower. There are now rarely any deals, and they have been replaced by ads. Hopefully they fix the scam of a reward system at the very least.

It's a PIN-less ATM transaction. You may want to call them to clarify what cards qualify.

Medical instead of recreational. Less psychosis and drag????????

Nope all you need is a valid ID

Yes, but for now it's open a few days a week for REC

I'd call and ask directly. If you're medical, you can order online. Otherwise calling seems to be the best way to get current times.

They vary, really. You can always call ahead of your visit. Medical also has the option of reserving goods online.

Will be selling Rec this Fri and Sat

It's expected they'll go down after a couple months, like they did on the west coast.

Nope, but better have extra cash, recreational taxes could be high....

Go into MOCA and ask or call MOCA phone number..

If it's your designated dispensary. Otherwise you need to go online and reassign your dispo. The process takes an hour to switch over

They close today open tomorrow.medical enters threw fullenton .everyone else goes threw Milwaukee

Can I come from another state and visit and buy your cannabis product consume in your state and then go home? Like a cannabis vacation, lol. I know it’s rec there now, but are the dispensaries up and running?

Google to see the list what ailments qualify you. Find a dr that writes a Rx for the card.

If you have your card already?(looks like an i.d.) you need to bring that and a driver's license/or state i.d.

Hi Michele, they usually announce them on their facebook page (search for "MOCA - Modern Cannabis")

You need a state medical cannabis card.

Yes you can. the dr. will also check you. Proof in black and white makes a big difference.

Contact someone at MOCA there's a special form you have to have your doctor sign and mail in

Ok thank you on the way there now

You should ask your doctor.

Moca does not sell seeds.

Pricing isnt made public and is only shown on the menus you get inside

Cash only, but there is an atm on site

you need to go to moca site. you go to one of the clinics listed they take your fingerprints and photo. you go see the doc twice (it can be in the same week) pay the fee and you get your card. if you have been diagnosed with one of the approved medical conditions listed bring that with you to show you were previously diagnosed and it will save you the cost of a exam.
